Data Scientist - Practice Lead

Data Scientist - Practice Lead sought by one of the worlds largest providers of financial services. Candidates require 10
years experience, strong data science background and advanced analytics and excellent senior level client facing communication skills. Will have team management responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a thought leader and strong communicator with senior leaders, sponsors, peers, and suppliers
Improve business decisions across a broad range of KPIs
Leads multiple, high impact data research and analysis projects; provides oversight and course corrections as required
Manages/directs analytical team, including oversight of matrix and offshore team members
Partners and consults with senior business leaders to understand their business requirements; recommends/designs research and analysis to improve business performance
Leverage big data to discover patterns and solve strategic & tactical multi-channel analytic business problems using massive structured and unstructured data sets across several environments e.g. Hadoop and Greenplum
Develop analytic capabilities (e.g. models and processes) that drive better outcomes for both customers and the company
Requirements:
Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, management science, engineering, economics, social science, operations research or related (Masters degree required, PhD preferred)

years experience in data science, advanced analytics, and model building
5
years experience managing a team, including hiring, onboarding, goal setting, and performance management
Experience working with big data and real time/near real time analytics and big data platforms like Hadoop
Experience with data manipulation and analysis using the following : SQL, noSQL, Python, R (on Hadoop), Java, Machine Learning libraries (via R, H2O, Python, Spark, etc), SAS EGuide, MapReduce, PIG, HIVE, SAS, SAS HPA, SAS Visual Analytics, SAS EMiner
Strong written and verbal communications skills; comfortable communicating with senior levels of both business and technology leadership
Experience driving large analytic projects and programs to completion
Strong practical knowledge of analytical techniques and methodologies such as machine learning/supervised and unsupervised techniques, segmentation, mix and time series modeling, response modeling, lift modeling, experimental design, neural networks, data mining and optimization techniques
